Fruit Strips

100% apple, grape, orange and lemon - no sugar added!


The recipe for these healthy fruit strips were inspired by a trip to Iran, where 'fruit leather' or 'lavashak' is a popular way to enjoy a dried fruit snack. Traditionally, the fruit mixture is left outside in the sun to harden and then rolled, but for the sake of convenience and time, an oven can also be used!


Ingredients:

  • 2 Apples

  • 2 cups Red grapes

  • 1 tsp Orange zest

  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice


Directions:


In a saucepan, heat the apples with ¼ cup water until soft (10 mins)


Add in the grapes, orange zest and lemon juice


When the fruit is soft, blend everything together. Make sure to blend when cool so as to not have any accidents with the blender!


Pour the liquid onto a baking sheet (about 1cm thick)


Put in oven at 100c for 3-5 hours until solid. It is done when there is no visible wetness but the sheets are still stick, and the fruit leather separates easily from the paper.




Other delicious combinations include:

  • Strawberry, apple and pomegranate

  • Orange, carrot and ginger

  • Pineapple, mango and orange

  • Peach and orange
