Fried Dough

Can be rolled in sugar and cinnamon, or dipped in chocolate!

Ingredients:

  • 200g Self-raising flour

  • 130ml Buttermilk (yoghurt and milk)

  • 1 Egg

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1 tbsp Sugar

  • 1 tsp Cinnamon

  • 20g Butter (cold)

Directions:


Start heating the sunflower oil (to about 170c)


In a bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg.


In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt and cinnamon.


With your fingers, rub the butter into the flour mixture.


Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture with a knife until combined.


Form into a bowl and roll out slightly on a floured surface.


Use a cookie cutter or cup to cut out circular shapes, then roll into a ball.


Fry in the hot oil for a few minutes until golden brown.


Leave to rest on kitchen paper then roll in sugar and cinnamon, or dip in chocolate/caramel.
